MoU Signing Between the Zambia Academy of Sciences (ZaAS) and the Dziwa Science and Technology Trust (DSaT)

In a significant move to advance scientific research, technological discovery, and innovation in Zambia, the Zambia Academy of Sciences (ZaAS) and the Dziwa Science and Technology Trust (DSaT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership is set to enhance communication and advocacy, capacity building, research, and community engagement.

The ZaAS Acting President, Professor Cyprian Katongo expressed keen anticipation for the cooperation, noting that the Academy looks forward to leveraging this partnership to drive science and technology forward. Similarly, the DSaT Chairperson, Dr. Paul Zambezi highlighted the importance of this collaboration, emphasizing its potential to strengthen science communication to the public and policymakers.

The rationale behind this partnership lies in the complementary missions of both organizations. By pooling their resources and expertise, ZaAS and DSaT aim to bridge the information gap in science and technology, ensuring that scientific knowledge benefits diverse segments of the population.

This collaboration is poised to significantly contribute to Zambia’s national agenda of promoting science for socioeconomic development through joint initiatives and coordinated efforts. By combining their strengths, ZaAS and DSaT will amplify their outreach efforts, facilitating the dissemination of scientific concepts, research findings, and technological advancements to a broader audience.
