Our Programs

Excellence in Science and Technology

Election to Membership and bestowment of Fellowships are the primary means through which the ZaAS recognises excellence in science, technology and innovation. Other mechanisms include award/prize schemes.

Publications

Publishing policy briefs, scholarly journals, monographs and reports provides an opportunity for ZaAS to contribute to national, regional and global discourse.

Zambia Young Academy of Sciences

The ZaAS is committed to strengthening the Zambia Young Academy of Sciences (ZYAS) in order to build its capacity and thereby give a voice to young scientists on national issues, promote science as a career of choice for young people and provide science-informed advice to public policy. The Zambia Young Academy of Sciences is an Academy of early career scientists, whose membership draws from all disciplines. The Academy works to foster early career independence for young scientists. The Zambia Young Academy of Sciences seeks to collaborate with scientists from every geographical region around the world. Membership to the ZYAS is based on a proven track record for outstanding contributions to science and commitment to public service. The young academy strives for the highest quality in its activities.

Public Awareness and Appreciation of Zambian Scholarship and Research

The Academy seeks to play a greater role in science communication and dissemination as part of its wider function of building public awareness and appreciation of the knowledge and learning generated through research and scholarship in science and technology.

Promoting Zambian Scholarship Regionally & Globally

The ZaAS aims to promote Zambian Scholarship and research at regional and global levels through membership in various regional and global networks that support science and technology. Hence, the Zambia Academy of Sciences participates in regional and international discourse with other academies through its membership in the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC), the International Science Council (ISC) and the Inter-Academy Partnership (IAP).
